“The Highest Point..." This was the headline to an article in the February 2004 magazine about the `Knowle 600' flag that flew high over the village throughout 2003.  If you are visiting this site from the website address in that article, welcome to the Bell Ringers section of the Knowle Parish Church website.  If you have simply stumbled across our pages, you are just as welcome!  For the full article” click here
Bell Ringers
In country churches old and pale
I hear the changes smoothly rung
And watch the coloured sallies fly
From rugged hands to rafters high
As round and back the bells are swung.
John Betjeman

We have a very pleasant ring of 8, rehung by Taylors in 1979. The tenor weight is 9-3-7 in G

Sunday service ringing is 8.45 until 9.30. In the evening we usually attempt a quarter peal.

We practice on Monday evening between 7.30 – 9.00, usually including Bank Holidays.

Visitors are very welcome; our ringing abilities range from call changes to some Surprise Major.

Peal attempts are a little restricted because of the close proximity of residential properties.

Bells History

Three old bells by Matthew Bagley of Evesham dated 1687 were replaced by a ring of six in 1897. The new bells (tenor 10-0-7) were cast by James Barwell of Birmingham. Taylors added two trebles in 1931. The back six were recast by Taylors in 1979, when the eight bells were rehung with new fittings in a new frame.  A record peal of Stedman Triples, 20160 changes, was rung here on May 9th 1981.
