Bishop's Visit

Bishop's Visit

Knowle Welcomes Bishop
Busy weekend for the Bishop, Dr John Sentamu, made two visits to the village. On Friday 28th February 2003, he visited both Arden School and Knowle C. E.Primary school, leading assemblies and looking at the work of the students. He aslo attended a lunch in St John's Hall, next to the Church, involving 130 representatives of the local businesses and voluntary organisations, where he delivered a challenging 'Thought for the day' message.
Community came together for worship, cake and champagne!
report by Henry Jerwood.

Sunday saw the Bishop again in Knowle, leading worship in the church, packed again for both the 9.30am and 11.15am services.

The Bishop cut a special birthday cake kindly prepared by Curtis's local bakery, at the 9.30 service. This was enjoyed by the congregation after the service. The celebrations continued after the 11.15am with a champagne reception.
On each occasion, the Bishop's theme - at assemblies, talks and in his two sermons on Sunday - was one of opening ourselves up to the personal presence of God in our lives, of listening to the message of the love of Jesus and listening to the needs and opinions of all people we meet in our lives, in order to translate that message of love into actions.
