Hello you wonderful people! I would just like to kick off this prayer letter by saying thank you for your support and prayers, it has been very encouraging.
I have been a busy bee these last 6 weeks and so I will try not to bore you with too much detail but here is a bit about what I have been up to… for the first two weeks I was at training in Worcester where I met all the other volunteers and made some really great friends there. I was extremely challenged by our theology lectures on topics like the trinity and learned a lot!
Then I did some more training with Reflex (the part of YFC that works with young offenders) where I got to know my wider team a lot better. As you know I am working with Inside Out Theatre Company- on my team is Jo (coordinator) Andy (team leader) me, Sarah and Anna are volunteers. We all get on really well so praise God!
Andy text me yesterday with a HUGE answer to prayer- we have been in desperate need for a male to join our team, God sent Leon to us and he will be joining us Thursday next week!!!!!! Wow, isn’t God good! Please pray that he will feel really welcome and settle into the team quickly.
I have been in Manchester for 5 weeks now doing lots of rehearsing, getting prepared to go into prisons for mid November. A big challenge for me is not having a host home as of yet… I am trusting that it is all in Gods timing and purpose. Through this I have realised that God really wants me to find my home in Him.
Thank God for Jo and James who kindly let me stay in their home and eat their food for a few weeks- they are an absolutely lovely couple!
Jo’s parents are letting me and Sarah stay with them till we can get hosts which is really nice and they are wonderful. Unfortunately they live the other side of Manchester to where I am working so we have to travel quite some way to get there and back each day. I desperately need a host family to come forward to have me till Christmas so please pray!!!!!
I have found a church nearby that I love but whether or not I will be able to go depends on where I live.
We went to this nunnery in the Wirral for a retreat to do a weeks intensive rehearsing- barrel of laughs though. Typical Flick, within seconds I was a pure embarrassment… the nun showing us around took me to my room and said it was called Florence- I was like “is Florence a girl or boys name?” eeeeeeeeeeeeek- that was her name!
I was commissioned last Saturday which was a fabulous event! Inside Out did a small performance of the beginning part of the play we are going to be performing in prisons; it’s called “Out of the Box” and is about Hope- based on the story of Pandora’s Box. That’s the title of this year for me really… out of the box in terms of being out of my comfort zone, and in terms of God bursting out of all the small box’s we like to put Him in and realizing his Might and Power.
