Dear
Thanks for letting us know that you are interested in being confirmed or baptised. So here's the next step…
As you probably know we have a series of sessions leading up to the confirmation and baptism service which will help you explore this decision further and prepare you for this commitment you are making. These sessions are compulsory if you would like to be confirmed or baptised, although you don't have to be confirmed or baptised at the end of the course if it doesn't feel right this year.
These sessions will be looking at things like who is God, why did Jesus die, the Bible, the church, prayer, and much more.
The sessions will bring adults and teenagers together and will be held on various Tuesday nights as part of the `Growing Deeper' course here at church. The dates are as follows: 29th April, 13th May, 20th May, 10th June and 24th June. The evening will begin at 7:45pm in St John's Hall and it will finish at 9:15pm.
There will also be a rehearsal on Friday 27th June at 7pm in the church with the wardens. Your sponsor is welcome to join you at the rehearsal but it is not a requirement.
The Baptisms (in a swimming pool) will take place at 3pm on 29th June. The venue is to be confirmed and the confirmation service will follow later at 6:30pm at the Church.
I have also enclosed a form that will eventually need to be filled in by everyone who is going to be confirmed (NB this is not for parents to fill in on your behalf). There is one section that asks for the name of your sponsor. This is a person who you have, can and will turn to for spiritual and life advice during both the happy and sad times, it is recommended that this is not a parent or someone in your direct peer group. Your sponsor will need to be at the confirmation service on Sunday 29th June.
