Manna Weekend Away

Manna Weekend Away

Manna Weekend Away 2008 February 22nd -24th
Manna weekend away 22nd - 24th February

A few weekends ago a rather large and loud group of teenagers from the youth group `Manna' left the cobbles in two brightly coloured mini buses. Our destination was a youth hostel near Ironbridge and, once Louisa had learnt to deal with her mini buses speed limiter, we arrived safely.
The youth hostel was great, with loads of space both inside and out. The weekend consisted of several talks about `truth' by Matt Levet and several activities. During Matt's sessions everyone had a great deal of fun, whether it was dancing to `the one and only' or doing colouring in. However, everyone also took in the message about truth that Matt was giving. He showed us how Jesus was a real person and that we are all equally loved.
On the Saturday we spent the morning in the local park, playing dodgeball and football before returning for lunch. All the food was really tasty and it was cooked for us by `Mum' and `Dad'. In the afternoon we were given a choice of activities. Most opted for a walk into town and an old-fashioned photo, in which we all dressed up in Victorian costumes. Others went ice skating or mountain biking which were also great fun.
Over the weekend we had several sessions of quiet time in which we reflected on what we had heard and on the Sunday, before leaving we shared thoughts from the weekend. By then it was time for everyone to pack and so, after quite a lot of hovering, we sadly left. Everyone learnt a great deal about God, themselves and each other over the two days.
Thank you to Louisa, Andy and Stu for organising the weekend and to all the leaders who came along to help out. It was a fantastic weekend and I can't wait until next year!
