Manna Job

Manna Job

Manna leaders
job description
Manna Mondays nights 7:15pm-9:15pm St John's Hall- term time only.

Role:  To assist in the social and spiritual development of young people in the Manna group through friendship, relationship and bible study.

Responsibility:  On Mondays we run mixed cell groups (much like a home group), usually with two leaders per group.  We hope in reality this means that each leader will take it in turns to lead.  Of course the size of each group varies, but we aim for a bout 10 young people in each group.

Teaching: For the incoming Year 10 cell we suggest that the group goes through the Youth Alpha programme (we supply the teaching material).  After that we encourage leaders to think carefully about what their group needs in terms of discipleship and we would then aim to find a study guide to achieve that aim.

Program: The Manna programme varies throughout the month, there are two or three cell groups (for bible study) as well as socials, ice-skating, bowling or laser quest as a big group (all cells invited).  Or a cell social for each group to decide what they would like to do, pizza and video nights are often popular. Once a term we also run `club nights'.  This is an open youth group night for anyone in the Manna age to come and play games, eat toast and get to know their leaders more.  Lastly once per half term we also have BLT (Bible Led Thinking).  This is where all cells come together in St John's Hall, a visitor gives a talk and then in our cell groups there is time for questions and prayer, these evenings are a good chance for people across different groups to get to know each other.

Monday's: Any given Monday would look something like this:
7:15pm leaders arrive and sit down to pray together;
7:30 young people arrive and cell begins.
9:00 cell ends, leaders pack up 9:15pm finish and go home!

We also aim for at least two leaders' meetings per year.  One of these is in September at the beginning of term.

It is also worth mentioning that we try to provide a weekend away normally around February time for the Manna age group and you would be more than welcome to come.

We also ask that each volunteer goes through our Child Protection Training within their first year of volunteering.  David Gentle, the churches child protection co-ordinator, runs the events.  These are advertised in the notice sheet.
