At the second MU Lent Lunch, on Thursday 18 March between 12 and 1.30pm,  you will be served home-made soup, a ploughman's and hot drinks by Mothers' Union members. Please come. No ticket needed. It costs £3.50 (£1.50 child) and any profit will go to MU overseas fund.

The next X:site for children in Gener8 and Reson8 is on 20 March. The coach leaves Knowle at 5.15pm returning at 8.40pm. Payment and forms are due back by next Sunday 14 March. See the church website or Children’s team for more details.

The Choir is leading a special evening service on 28 March with extracts from Handel’s Messiah.  All are welcome to join the robed choir, rehearsing every Thursday in church 7.30-8.30pm. Contact Hannah Brown for further information.

Knowle Male Voice Choir and Guests will be putting on their annual concert in aid of our own CARE charity in Church on 12 June at 7.00pm.

This summer Dave, Sheri and Marcus are joining Children Worldwide’s ‘Dalesdown Camp’ in Sussex, 7– 13 August. Places are available for children in school years 4-6. Sarah Covington is leading camp. She will be coming to Knowle on 7 March to talk with the children during their morning session and will also be in the Guild House 10.40am – 11am to chat with parents.

Bishop of Birmingham’s Lent Lectures in Birmingham Cathedral: every Wednesday during Lent at 8.00pm (refreshments available from 7.45pm). 10 March – ‘Discipleship: The Apprentice.’ Speaker Professor David Ford, Canon Theologian of Birmingham Cathedral.

‘Make a Mother’s Day’. Leaflets are at the back of church to enable you to give a gift that will change the world for a mother. (Orders must be received by Tuesday 9 March).

Malawi Mission Encounter and Skills Share 2010.  Groups from Birmingham Diocese will be visiting Malawi for 2 weeks this summer. Mission Encounter offers an introduction to life and faith in Malawi. Skills Share is for those who are, or have been, in the medical or educational professions. This Easter why not, along with the chocolate, make the most of the season and give your child / grandchild / godchild a longer lasting gift of a christian book? From 14 March the church bookshop will have a range of books / sticker books for 0-11’s selected by the children’s team, which you are able to order alongside the usual range.       

Short term Encounter with CMS. CMS saw a 43% increase in the number of people taking part in short term encounter trips last year? Kay Sabell is retiring as leader of Stepping Stones from August. Kay has led the group since 1995 and has decided that it’s time to seek new challenges. We shall celebrate with Kay in the summer but want to say a huge thank you to her now for all that she has done over the years with children and families. Work is underway to recruit a new leader for Stepping Stones, but Kay will be a hard act to follow.

Big Ministries (set up by Jo and Steve Squires five years ago) have released their latest worship album ‘Unstoppable’. The album, aimed at 7-11 year olds, contains high energy ‘air guitar’ tunes to more reflective numbers each with a contemporary feel, matched with solid lyrics. Equally great for those long car journeys or for whacking up really loud at home!! Available in the church bookshop for £11.99 the album comes highly recommended by the Children’s Team.

Xplosion Drama would love to have you join us. Young People’s Ski Holiday Easter 2010 - a fabulous combination of great skiing and learning more about faith in Jesus while staying in the stunning Swiss mountains. The Ski Venture is for 13-18 year olds, 9-18 April in Lauterbrunnen. Price, which includes everything, is £540 (under 16s) and £595 (16 and over).  Can you help…
…co-ordinate Christian Aid collections for Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath? The role involves ordering and distributing the supplies for door-to-door collections in Christian Aid Week to each of the team leaders in the 6 local churches, and is not an onerous commitment. Please contact the Parish Office for more details.

The Youth Team would like to borrow an exercise bike with a working trip computer to use at KP Nuts on Thursday 11 March. (Will@kpc.org.uk)

Stepping Stones will be collecting Tesco and Sainsbury’s vouchers again this year. We should be very grateful if you could put any vouchers you collect in the Stepping Stones pigeon hole in St John's Hall.

The Flower Guild would welcome any help to put together 400 daffodil posies for Mothering Sunday. Just turn up at about 9.30am on Saturday 13 March in St John's small Hall. Perhaps an opportunity to combine this with a coffee at Cobbles later?
