Knowle Parish Church 600th Anniversary Celebrations Review of the Year
£4,500 more for World Vision
8 more projects supported
Knowle Parish Church's 600th Anniversary activities in 2003 were re-lived last Sunday, when a video of some of the year's events was screened to congregations at all the church services. In addition, a final cheque for £4,500 was presented to Nicky Paterson of World Vision. This brought the total for the year to £13,300, donated to support projects large and small around the world.
World Vision, a Christian charity, specialises in self sustaining projects and offers support ideas, through a catalogue, which was used as the basis of fundraising efforts in Knowle. The latest donation will be used to carry out a diverse range of projects.
60 Mechanical Rice Threshers
6 Emergency Survival Packs
60 School Kits for children in Asia
School Lunches for 6 Armenian Children
6 Fruit Trees for a family in Vietnam
6 piglets for 6 families in South East Asia
6 Harvest Packs
6 Herds of Goats for families in East Africa
In all, there were over 40 fundraising activities through the year - some run especially for the 600th Anniversary and some regular events, given a special emphasis for the year. Church members and groups were joined by 23 local organisations and 56 businesses in arranging, promoting and supporting the events.
A truly great team effort by the community.
